About AIjia
What is an AI companion?
A warm, voice first presence built to keep you company, not to run tasks. AIjia is an AI companion built into an everyday object you hold, starting with the AIjia Shell Pillow.
Is AIjia a smart speaker?
No. It is not built to run your home, take commands, or answer trivia. It is built to be present, and to keep you company.
How is it different from a chatbot app?
AIjia is something you hold, not a screen you stare at. It is voice first and screen light, family safe, and free of any romantic or adult framing.
Privacy and listening
Is AIjia always listening?
No. Its wake word lives on the chip inside the pillow. It rests until you say AIjia, and only then wakes and connects. It is not always listening or recording.
Where are my conversations stored?
On secure servers in the United States and Europe, with careful backups. Never sold, never shared, and never used to train other companies' AI.
Does it remember our conversations?
Within a conversation, yes. Lasting memory across days arrives with the next AIjia pillow, built into the device itself and kept in your hands.
Are AI companions safe and private?
AIjia processes conversations securely, keeps them on Western servers, and never sells, shares, or trains other companies' AI on them. Every response passes through a safety layer to keep it kind.
Can I turn the microphone off?
Yes. There is a physical switch that turns the microphone off entirely, and AIjia responds only when you wake it.
Cost and buying
Is there a subscription?
There is no fixed membership fee. AIjia is always free to talk, through our work with Tuya, so it is never silenced. For advanced AI conversation you use credits, paying only for what you use, with everything shown on your dashboard.
Why credits instead of a flat fee?
Because a companion for loneliness should never be switched off for non-payment, and because heavy use of advanced AI costs more than light use. The free layer keeps AIjia present for everyone, and credits mean you pay only for the advanced conversation you actually use.
Can I give it as a gift?
Yes. AIjia was made to be given. See the gifting guide for help choosing for the person you have in mind.
Using it
Will an elderly parent be able to use it?
Yes. There is no app to learn and no screen. They simply speak, and AIjia answers.
Can it tell bedtime stories and play sleep sounds?
Yes. Calming bedtime stories, soothing sleep music, ambient soundscapes, and white noise for the quiet hours.
Does it need Wi-Fi?
Yes. You connect it to any available WiFi through the AIjia app, by entering your network name and password.
How do I change the volume?
By voice. Just ask AIjia to turn the volume up or down.
Can it play my phone’s music, calls, or videos?
Yes. It connects by Bluetooth to play your phone’s audio, for music, calls, movies, and online video.
What is the battery life?
A 3.7V 1000mAh Li-Po rechargeable battery, 3C Certified.
What languages does it speak?
English and Mandarin Chinese today, with more planned.
Trust
Is it a replacement for human connection?
No, and we would never sell it that way. AIjia helps someone feel less alone and supports real relationships. It does not stand in for them.
No question matches that.
It may be something we have not written down yet. We would rather you simply asked.
